Rio Ferdinand is backing Trent Alexander-Arnold to learn from his disappointing display against AS Roma
Rio Ferdinand is backing Trent Alexander-Arnold to learn from his difficult night in Liverpool FC’s clash against AS Roma on Wednesday night.
The teenager has been earning plenty of praise for his mature performances for the Merseyside outfit in recent weeks but struggled with his display on Wednesday night as the Reds were beaten 4-2.
Liverpool FC still progressed to the Champions League final thanks to a dramatic 7-6 aggregate victory over the Italian side.
England legend Ferdinand was quick to praise two of Liverpool FC’s more experienced players for their displays against AS Roma and said that the experience of Wednesday’s game will stand Alexander-Arnold in good stead.
Speaking to BT Sport after the game, Ferdinand said: “Liverpool’s experienced players did a job today. James Milner and Jordan Henderson were very good and very solid.
“The young lad at right-back [Trent Alexander-Arnold] had a tough game but these are the games he’ll learn in.
“These are good learning curves for these young players. I’m sure Klopp will help his players grow.”
Liverpool FC are now going to turn their attentions back towards Premier League affairs and their trip to Chelsea FC in the top flight on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds are currently third in the table as they bid to try and secure a top-four finish this season, before turning their attentions towards their Champions League final showdown against Real Madrid on Saturday 26 May.
Liverpool FC are yet to win their first trophy under Jurgen Klopp since his appointment back in October 2015.
