Pep Guardiola raves about Liverpool FC star Virgil van Dijk
Pep Guardiola admits his admiration for Liverpool FC defender Virgil van Dijk
Pep Guardiola has credited Virgil van Dijk with bringing Liverpool FC some much needed stability at the back this season.
The Netherlands international has been adapting to life at Anfield after having signed for the Reds from Southampton in the January transfer window.
Van Dijk has been a constant fixture in the Liverpool FC starting line-up this season and has been earning plenty of praise for his performances for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The 26-year-old defender has scored one goal in 20 appearances in all competitions for the Reds since his move to the club from Southampton at the turn of the year.
He has also made five appearances in the Champions League to help Liverpool FC set up a final showdown against Real Madrid in Kiev at the end of the month.
And Manchester City boss Guardiola has credited Van Dijk with having a big positive impact at Anfield since his move the club earlier this year.
Speaking at a news conference on Friday, Guardiola said: “I think [Virgil] van Dijk has helped them a lot to be more consistent in the defensive department, especially in the box, and [there is] the quality up front and the quality in the way they play.”
Liverpool FC will travel to Kiev to take on Real Madrid in the Champions League final on Saturday 26 May.
The Merseyside outfit are still looking to win their first trophy under Klopp since his appointment at Anfield back in October 2015.
