Jurgen Klopp warned about Gareth Bale ahead of Liverpool FC v Real Madrid
Ryan Giggs wants Gareth Bale to start in Real Madrid's clash against Liverpool FC in the Champions League final on Saturday evening
Ryan Giggs has urged Real Madrid to start with Gareth Bale against Liverpool FC in the Champions League final on Saturday evening.
The Wales international has spent most of the season out of favour under Zinedine Zidane due to injury and a loss of form.
Indeed, Bale didn’t start either leg of their 4-3 aggregate win against Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-finals.
However, the 29-year-old has scored four goals in his last three games to put himself into contention for a starting spot in Kiev.
Bale’s record against Liverpool with Tottenham was four victories, two stalemates and three losses. His only goal in nine appearances came in a 2-1 home victory in November 2012.
Wales manager Giggs believes Bale merits a place in Zidane’s starting XI when Real Madrid look to defend their crown against Liverpool FC on Saturday evening.
“Of course Real have a lot of good players but, from my point of view, Bale would always be in my starting team,” Giggs told Sky Sports.
He added: “It would be amazing if Real Madrid do it. It is great for Gareth, but also for Wales to have somebody representing the country, and somebody who has won so much.”
Bale is one of nine Real Madrid players who could feature in their ninth triumphant Champions League final in Kiev this weekend.
The Welsh forward moved to los Blancos in what was then a world record £85.3m deal from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in the 2013 summer transfer window.
Bale has won three Champions League crowns and the La Liga title during his spell at Real Madrid.
