Mark Lawrenson has urged Jurgen Klopp not to alter his tactics for Liverpool FC’s clash against Real Madrid in the Champions League final on Saturday evening.

The Reds will take on the current holders in Kiev on Saturday evening in pursuit of their first Champions League title since 2005.

Klopp’s team have earned many new admirer for their attacking brand of football after the Reds scored 46 goals in 14 games en route to the Champions League final.

Remarkably, Liverpool FC scored five times in resounding aggregate victories over Portuguese side FC Porto and Premier League champions Manchester City.

The Reds were 5-2 winners against AS Roma at Anfield in the first leg of their semi-final before a 4-1 loss in the Italian capital was sufficient to secure a 7-6 aggregate win.

Klopp’s Borussia Dortmund side lost 2-1 to Bayern Munich in the Champions League final at Wembley in 2013 before Liverpool FC lost 3-1 to Sevilla in the Europa League showpiece in 2016.

Former Liverpool FC defender Lawrenson doesn’t want Klopp to alter his tactics for their final against Real Madrid.

“Klopp’s lost his last five finals but in almost every one he’s been an underdog,” Lawrenson told Paddy Power.

“That’s because in general his teams haven’t been as good as the teams they were playing. His Dortmund side against Munich in his previous Champions League final were unlucky on the night and could’ve won it with a break here or there.

“I wouldn’t have a problem with his finals record at all. It’s more important how well he has done getting his teams that far.

“People will talk about how he hasn’t won these games, but my God, he’ll have won three “finals” in the earlier rounds just to get to the real final!

“And they’ve made it this far playing their best team and setting them up to play open, attacking football, so there’s no need to change that now.”

Liverpool FC have scored 46 times and have conceded 13 times in 14 games in the Champions League this term.

AS Roma’s 4-1 win in the second leg of their semi-final was Liverpool FC’s first defeat of the Champions League campaign.
