Michael Owen raves about Liverpool FC ahead of Real Madrid final
The Liverpool FC legend is backing Jordan Henderson to lift the Champions League trophy
Michael Owen has backed Liverpool FC captain Jordan Henderson to lift the Champions League trophy in Kiev on Saturday night.
The Reds will take on Champions League holders Real Madrid in the European showpiece as los Blancos look to win the competition for the third successive season.
In fact, Real Madrid have won the Champions League title in three of the past four seasons to dominate Europe’s top club competition in recent years.
Liverpool FC have won many admirers this season thanks to their attacking brand of football under their German head coach Jurgen Klopp.
The Reds have scored 46 goals in 14 games this season, starting with their 6-4 aggregate win against Bundesliga side Hoffenheim in the playoff round.
The Merseyside outfit have beaten Portuguese side FC Porto, Premier League champions Manchester City and Serie A giants AS Roma to reach the final.
Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is a big fan of the Reds team under Klopp and tipped the Merseyside outfit to win the Champions League crown.
“All season I have thought Los Blancos were the team to beat in the Champions League and any side who have knocked out PSG, Juventus and Bayern Munich deserve to take their place in the final,” Owen told BetVictor.
“They have not faced a side, however, with the pace, energy, skill and passion of this Jürgen Klopp-inspired Liverpool side and I expect to see Jordan Henderson pick up a sixth European Cup/Champions League Trophy for the Reds in Kiev.”
Liverpool’s unbeaten record in this season’s competition was ended by the 4-2 defeat at AS Roma in the semi-final second leg.
However, the Reds still booked their place in the Champions League final thanks to a 7-6 aggregate win over the Serie A side.
