Michael Owen is confident Liverpool FC will be able to exploit the lack of pace in the Real Madrid side in the Champions League final on Saturday night.

The Reds will take on the La Liga giants in Kiev in pursuit of a first Champions League title since 2005 when Liverpool FC beat AC Milan on penalties.

Liverpool FC have scored an incredible 46 goals in 14 games in the Champions League this season to surpass Barcelona’s record of 45 from 1999/2000.

Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have scored a combined 29 goals to play a big role in their run to the Champions League final.

Liverpool FC are blessed with an abundance of pace in their team given Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold offering pace down the wing from their full-back positions.

Real Madrid have scored in their last 29 Uefa matches but their most recent blank came in a goalless draw against Manchester City in the 2015/16 Champions League semi-final first leg.

Former Liverpool FC striker Owen believes the Reds’ superior pace could give Klopp’s side a slight advantage against Real Madrid in the Champions League showpiece.

“Mo Salah (10), Roberto Firmino (10) and Sadio Mane (9) have scored 29 goals between them in the Champions League this season and the Reds front three can again be the difference between the sides in Ukraine,” Owen told BetVictor.

“The Whites are a great team but they are not blessed with great pace in their back four and I expect Liverpool to exploit that weakness in what promises to be a cracker.”

The Reds have already faced Spanish opposition this season, drawing home (2-2) and away (3-3) with Sevilla.

Liverpool FC were subjected to intense criticism after they let slip a 3-0 half-time lead in the second game in Spain.
