The Liverpool FC legend is backing the Reds to beat Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev later this month
Craig Bellamy is backing Liverpool FC to beat Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev later this month.
The Reds secured their place in the Champions League showpiece thanks to a thrilling 7-6 aggregate win against Italian giants AS Roma in the last four.
Liverpool FC were 5-2 winners against the Serie A outfit in the first leg at Anfield after Mohamed Salah’s scored twice in the first half before Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane sealed a commanding victory.
The Reds took the lead twice in the Italian capital thanks to James Milner and Mane but Liverpool FC’s English midfielder netted an own goal before Edin Dzeko and Radja Nainggolan secured a 4-2 win on the night.
Jurgen Klopp’s men will take on Real Madrid in the Champions League final after los Blancos eased to a 4-3 aggregate victory over Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich to reach their fourth final in five seasons.
However, former Liverpool FC striker Bellamy, who was part of Rafael Benitez’s side that lost 2-1 to AC Milan in the final in 2007, is backing the Reds to gets their hands on their first Champions League trophy since 2005.
“I watched them against Juventus and tactically they are so vulnerable,” Bellamy told Sky Sports.
“The way Madrid play will suit Liverpool. They don’t track runners – you can run off the back of them. Experience will be important but this Madrid team aren’t as good as the Madrid teams of the last two, three years. This is a very good opportunity for Liverpool.
“Liverpool will have a lot of confidence about beating this Real Madrid side. My concern is the experience edge Madrid have.
“I fancy Liverpool, I really do. I’m not a betting man, but if I was, I’d put my money on Liverpool.”
Liverpool FC haven’t won the Premier League title but finished in second place in 2002, 2009 and 2014.
