Dejan Lovren states his prediction for Liverpool FC v Real Madrid
The Liverpool FC star is hoping that the Reds can show the necessary character to beat Real Madrid in the Champions League
Dejan Lovren has urged his Liverpool FC team-mates to show the same character against Real Madrid that has helped the Reds reach the Champions League final.
The Merseyside outfit will take on the current holders in what promises to be an intriguing Champions League final involving the competition’s top-scoring teams.
Liverpool FC managed to beat Portuguese giants FC Porto, Premier League champions Manchester City and Serie A giants AS Roma to reach the Kiev final.
The Reds were dramatic 7-6 aggregate winners against Serie A giants AS Roma in the Champions League semi-finals despite a 4-1 loss in the Italian capital.
Liverpool FC were 1-0 winners against Real Madrid in their only previous meeting in the European Cup final back in 1984.
The 18-time English champions are looking to win the Champions League for the first time since 2005 when Liverpool FC beat AC Milan on penalties.
Lovren is optimistic that Liverpool FC can show the necessary character to cause an upset and beat the 12-time champions in the final in Ukraine on 26 May.
“Reaching the final of the Champions League is a fantastic achievement for the club and also personally,” Lovren is quoted as saying by the Daily Star.
“We have grown as the competition has gone on and we know what we need to do to do well in this tournament.
“Apart from the World Cup final, this is the biggest game you can play in and we are all really looking forward to it. It is something that everyone wants.
“I was dreaming of playing in the final and winning the tournament since I was a boy. Now we have the opportunity.
“We need to show our character again, show our skills and show the world that we can do it.”
Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table to secure a spot in the Champions League for the second successive season.
The Reds signed Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in the January transfer window.
