Roy Keane states his prediction for Liverpool FC v Real Madrid
The Man United legend believes Real Madrid will be confident that they can exploit Liverpool FC's defensive weaknesses
Roy Keane believes Real Madrid will be looking to exploit Trent Alexander-Arnold and Loris Karius when the current Champions League holders take on Liverpool FC in the final in Kiev later this month.
The Spanish giants booked their place in the Champions League showpiece thanks to a 4-3 win against Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in dramatic circumstances at the Bernabeu Stadium on Wednesday night.
Liverpool FC travelled to Rome with a 5-2 lead following Mohamed Salah’s two goals and his two assists in the first leg ahead of the Egypt international’s return to the Stadio Olimpico.
The Merseyside outfit lost 4-2 to AS Roma in the Italian capital but Liverpool FC managed to get through thanks to a 7-6 aggregate win to set up a Champions League final meeting with Real Madrid.
Former Manchester United captain Keane believes Real Madrid will be confident of exploiting Liverpool FC’s weaknesses ahead of the Champions League showpiece.
“Obviously it’s slightly different in the final – over the two legs there’s maybe different mentalities,” Keane told ITV Sport.
“We could look at Real Madrid and pick holes in them which we have done. But they will be doing exactly the same as Liverpool. If you look at Liverpool tonight, the young right-back had a nightmare and the goalkeeper was poor.
“Real Madrid will be rubbing their hands as much as Liverpool will be – that’s why it’s such an intriguing game.”
Liverpool FC are in third place in the Premier League table ahead of their meeting with Chelsea FC at Stamford Bridge.
The Reds signed Netherlands international Virgil van Dijk in a £75m deal from Southampton in the January transfer window to bolster Klopp’s defence in the second half of the 2017-18 season.
