Phil Thompson states his prediction for Liverpool FC v Real Madrid

Phil Thompson is backing Liverpool FC to beat Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev on Saturday evening.
The Reds booked their place in the European Cup showpiece courtesy of a dramatic 7-6 aggregate win against Serie A giants AS Roma in the Champions League semi-finals.
Liverpool FC will come up against the current holders Real Madrid as los Blancos look to win the competition for a third successive season.
The Reds have already faced Spanish opposition in the Champions League this season following a 2-2 draw at home with Sevilla before squandering a 3-0 half-time lead to draw 3-3 in the return fixture in Spain.
Thompson captained the Liverpool FC team that were 1-0 winners against Real Madrid in their only previous meeting in the European Cup final in Paris in 1981.
The Reds were 5-0 aggregate winners against Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals in 2009 before Liverpool FC lost home and away in the group stage in 2014-15.
However, former Liverpool FC skipper Thompson is confident Jurgen Klopp’s side will beat Real Madrid in the Champions League final on Saturday evening.
“I think Liverpool will have too much energy,” Thompson told Irish radio station Newstalk. “They are an ageing side. I think we will have more legs on them than they will.”
Liverpool’s unbeaten record in this season’s competition was ended by the 4-2 defeat at AS Roma in the semi-final second leg but the Reds still progressed 7-6 on aggregate.
