Andy Robertson is confident that Liverpool FC are capable of beating Real Madrid in the Champions League final, despite conceding that the Reds will be the underdogs.

The Scottish full-back helped Liverpool FC to book their place in the final on Wednesday night as they sealed a 7-6 aggregate victory over AS Roma in the quarter-finals, despite losing 4-2 in Italy.

Liverpool FC will now take on defending champions Real Madrid in the final at the end of the month as they bid to help the Reds win the trophy for a sixth time.

Real Madrid are likely to be the favourites to claim victory due to the fact that they have won the title for the last two years running.

However, full-back Robertson is confident that Liverpool FC have what it takes to be able to spring a surprise and claim victory over Real Madrid in the final in Kiev on 26 May.

Speaking to BT Sport on Wednesday night, Robertson said: “They [Real Madrid] are so experienced and in the last couple of years they’ve absolutely dominated the Champions League.

“We’ll go in as underdogs but sometimes that can be a good thing.

“We’ll try our best and the fans will have a great day out. Hopefully we can bring the trophy back.:

Liverpool FC will now switch their attentions back towards Premier League affairs and their crunch showdown against Chelsea FC at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds are currently in third place in the Premier League table as they seek a top-four finish for the second campaign running.
