The Liverpool FC target replies when asked about his future at Lyon
Nabil Fekir has opened the door to a potential move to Liverpool FC after he confirmed Lyon won’t stand in the way of a summer transfer.
The France international has blossomed into one of Lyon’s most important players over the past two or three seasons in Ligue 1.
The 24-year-old has been regularly linked with a potential move to Arsenal in recent summers but Arsene Wenger’s exit may end their apparent interest.
Over the past week, Liverpool FC have been touted with a swoop to sign Fekir in a deal worth around £62m ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Reds could lose Germany international Emre Can on a free transfer this summer, which would leave a void in Jurgen Klopp’s side that Fekir could fill.
Asked about his future at Lyon ahead of the final round of Premier League fixtures, Fekir told L’Equipe:
“The president (Jean-Michel Aulas) told me, like he told everyone else when they signed their contracts, that we have the possibility to talk whenever I want to leave.
“Nobody signs for life in a club. It doesn’t work like that.
“I don’t have a free pass to leave. I have a contract until 2020. I’ll let destiny handle the rest.
“I’m in Lyon for two more games and then we’ll see. For now, there’s nothing. The president trusts me and I feel good at Lyon.”
Fekir has scored 17 goals and has made seven assists in 28 games in Ligue 1 this term.
Liverpool FC sold Brazil international Philippe Coutinho in a £142m deal to FC Barcelona in the January transfer window.
The Reds are still to invest the funds raised from the South American’s sale after signing Virgil van Dijk at the start of the transfer window..
