Steve McManaman names the signings Liverpool FC must make this summer
Steve McManaman has his say on the signings Liverpool FC need to make this summer
Steve McManaman believes that Liverpool FC need to prioritise signing a new defender and a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer window.
The Reds are currently coming to terms with the disappointment of their 3-1 loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev on Saturday night.
Loris Karius made two high-profile mistakes as goals from Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale handed the Spanish side their third successive Champions League trophy.
Attentions will now inevitably turn towards the summer transfer window and the players Jurgen Klopp is looking to bring in as he bids to strengthen his squad ahead of next season.
The Reds are likely to be on the lookout for a number of signings as they look to assemble a team capable of winning the Premier League next season.
And former Liverpool FC and Real Madrid star McManaman feels that the Reds are in dire need of some significant signings this summer.
Speaking to BT Sport on Saturday, McMananman said: “They’re in a good way but they need to invest.
“They need to bring in a few more players. If you look at the bench during the Champions League final, it is not really strong enough to compete with the likes of Madrid.
“I think they will bring in a few more players and they’ll certainly be looking at goalkeepers and central defenders.”
Liverpool FC are still searching for their first trophy under Klopp since his appointment at Anfield as Brendan Rodgers’ permanent successor back in October 2015.
The Reds finished in fourth place in the Premier League table this season.
