Steven Gerrard makes admission about Mo Salah injury after Liverpool FC v Real Madrid
Steven Gerrard has his say on Mohamed Salah's Liverpool FC injury in the Champions League final
Steven Gerrard has admitted that Mohamed Salah’s injury had a big effect on Liverpool FC’s fortunes against Real Madrid in the Champions League final.
The Egypt international was forced off midway through the first half after falling awkwardly following a clumsy challenge by Sergio Ramos.
Salah left the field in tears and had to be substituted before the break as Liverpool FC ended up slumping to a disappointing 3-1 loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League final.
The 25-year-old has been Liverpool FC’s standout performer this season, with Salah having scored a staggering 44 goals in all competitions for Jurgen Klopp’s men to help them to a top-four finish in the Premier League.
He also won the Premier League golden boot and was voted as the PFA player of the year following his fine form this season.
And Liverpool FC legend Gerrard admits that Salah’s injury did have a big negative impact on Saturday’s game for the Reds.
Speaking to BT Sport after the game, Gerrard said: “It was a huge blow for Mo individually because he’s been superb all season. The effect it had on everyone for Liverpool was really big.”
Liverpool FC will now look to regroup as they bid to try and challenge for the Premier League title next season as they continue their search for their first trophy under Klopp.
