Jason McAteer has lavished praise on Jordan Henderson for the way he has been performing for Liverpool FC this season.

The England international has been a solid performer in the middle of the park for Jurgen Klopp’s men this term to help the Reds secure a top-four finish in the Premier League and also set up a Champions League final showdown with Real Madrid this weekend.

Henderson has scored one goal and made one assist in 27 Premier League games for the Reds this season to help them to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League.

The 27-year-old midfielder will now be aiming to captain the Merseyside outfit to Champions League glory when they take on Real Madrid in the final in Kiev on Saturday night.

And McAteer has talked up the importance of Henderson to the Liverpool FC team for the way he has been performing for Klopp’s men this term.

Speaking in an interview with 888sport, McAteer said: “Jordan leads by example in the way that he plays.

“He expects others to show the same commitment, energy, and drive that he’s got. He’s not as vocal or as dynamic as Steven was or score as many goals but he’s still a worthy captain for Liverpool.”

Liverpool FC are preparing to take on Real Madrid as they search for their first major trophy under Klopp since his appointment back in the autumn of 2015.

The Reds are aiming to prevent Real Madrid from becoming the first team to win the Champions League for three seasons running.
