Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he fears the worst for Mohamed Salah after he was injured in the first half of Liverpool FC’s Champions League final defeat by Real Madrid on Saturday night.

The Egypt international had to come off midway through the first half after falling awkwardly during a challenge with Sergio Ramos in the final in Kiev.

Salah has been one of world football’s top performing talents this season and he has scored a staggering 44 goals in all competitions for Klopp’s men.

He was also voted as the PFA player of the year and won the Premier League golden boot following his sparkling displays for the Merseyside outfit.

Klopp was asked about Salah’s injury at his post-match news conference on Saturday night and the Liverpool FC boss did not seem to optimistic about the 25-year-old’s hopes of being fit for the World Cup.

Speaking at the news conference after the game, Klopp said: “It’s very bad for Mo, very bad for us and very bad for Egypt.

“That’s part of the sport. I don’t like that part of the sport but it’s part of the sport and things like this can happen. I don’t know what would have happened if Mo could have played on, we will never know that.”

He added: “It’s a serious injury, a really serious injury.

“He is in the hospital for an X-ray. It’s either the collarbone or the shoulder itself. It doesn’t look good, that’s it.”

Liverpool FC will now turn their attentions towards the summer transfer window and the signings they will look to make this summer.

The Reds will be hoping to build a team capable of winning the Premier League title next season after their fourth-placed finish this term.
