Jurgen Klopp gives big Emre Can update ahead of Liverpool FC v Real Madrid
Jurgen Klopp delivers the latest update on Emre Can's situation at Liverpool FC
Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Emre Can is an “option” to feature for Liverpool FC against Real Madrid in the Champions League final on Saturday.
The German midfielder has been out of action since March due to a back injury but he has been working hard behind the scenes to prove his fitness ahead of the crunch Champions League showdown on Saturday night.
Can, 24, has now returned to full training with his team-mates ahead of their crunch clash against Real Madrid in Kiev this weekend.
And Liverpool FC boss Klopp has confirmed that Can is indeed available for selection as the Reds prepare for their huge showdown against the Champions League holders.
Speaking in an interview with Liverpool FC’s website, Klopp said: “Emre is a surprise.
“He told me he would come back, try this and that and then we would talk to people.
“We thought it would be difficult, but he came back and from the first day it was like, ‘OK, that looks good, how do you feel?’ ‘Very good’ and then the next day ‘very good’ again.
“Now he trains completely normal. He’s a nice option and that’s why he is with us.”
Can’s long-term future remains up in the air, with his contract at Anfield set to expire at the end of the season.
The midfielder is yet to commit himself to a new deal and has been linked with a transfer to Juventus this summer.
It means that Can could end up leaving Liverpool FC on a free transfer this summer when his contract expires in the coming days.
Liverpool FC are aiming to win their first major trophy since Klopp’s appointment on Saturday night.
