Wijnaldum states his prediction for Liverpool FC v Real Madrid
Georginho Wijnaldum looks ahead to the Liverpool FC v Real Madrid Champions League final
Georginho Wijnaldum is backing Liverpool FC to be able to run Real Madrid close when the two sides face off in the Champions League final later this month.
The Reds booked their place in the final of Europe’s elite club competition in dramatic circumstances on Wednesday night when they sealed a 7-6 aggregate victory over AS Roma.
Liverpool FC were beaten 4-2 on the night but still managed to progress through to the final thanks to their narrow victory over the Italian side.
All attentions will now be on Liverpool FC’s crunch showdown with Real Madrid in the final at the end of the month as the Reds look to try and win their first trophy under Jurgen Klopp.
Netherlands international Wijnaldum is under no illusions about the task that awaits Klopp’s side, but the midfielder seems confident that the Reds will be able to take the game to the Spanish giants.
Speaking to BT Sport after Wednesday’s game, Wijnaldum said: “It’s going to be a nice game.
“If you want to win the Champions League you have to beat anyone.
“Real Madrid is a tough opponent with a lot of good players, but we have them also, so it’s going to be a good match.”
Liverpool FC will first switch their attentions back towards Premier League affairs and their crunch trip to Chelsea FC on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds are currently in third place in the Premier League table as they look to secure a top-four finish in the top flight for the second season running.
