Eric Bailly has been left worried about his long-term future at Manchester United after having been frozen out by Jose Mourinho, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Mirror is claiming that the Ivorian is concerned about his place in the team at Old Trafford after having failed to notch up many appearances recently.

According to the same report, Mourinho has surprised his squad by giving Bailly the cold shoulder and offering no explanation as to why he was axed completely from the squad to face Arsenal last Sunday.

The same story says that the 24-year-old defender is “desperate” to get back into the team, but he has not featured since the Manchester derby clash at The Etihad last month.

Bailly was one of Manchester United’s standout performers in defence last season following his move to the club from Spanish side Valencia in the summer of 2016.

However, he has been limited to just 10 Premier League starts for Mourinho’s men so far this term.

Manchester United are likely to be linked with a number of players in the forthcoming summer transfer window as Mourinho looks to assemble a squad capable of lifting the Premier League trophy next season.
