David De Gea has warned Manchester United that the Red Devils can expect a competitive title race next season.

Jose Mourinho’s side are on course to finish in second place in the Premier League table this season following a decent second campaign under the Portuguese head coach.

Manchester United are a long way behind Premier League champions after the Red Devils struggled to match the consistency of their city rivals.

The 20-time English champions are still waiting to win their first Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson stood down in 2013.

Manchester United lost 2-1 to La Liga giants Sevilla in the Champions League round of 16 to make a premature exit in Europe.

The Red Devils can still finish the 2017-18 campaign with some silverware if Manchester United can beat Mourinho’s former club Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley later this month.

Speaking to Sky Sports about Manchester United’s targets next season, De Gea warned his team-mates that the title race will be more competitive next term.

Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last term in Mourinho’s first season in charge at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils won the Europa League and the League Cup in the 2016-17 season.
