Jose Mourinho will still be in charge of Manchester United at the start of next season, Gabriele Marcotti has insisted.

The Red Devils finished the season without silverware after Manchester United lost 1-0 to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley last weekend.

Belgium international Eden Hazard scored from the penalty spot after Phil Jones brought down the 27-year-old in the penalty area.

Manchester United did finish in second place in the Premier League table ahead of Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool FC and Chelsea FC.

However, the 20-time English champions ended up 19 points adrift of Premier League champions Manchester City in the title race.

ESPN FC reporter Marcotti believes Mourinho will definitely be in charge of Manchester United next term.

“He is definitely back,” Marcotti told ESPN FC. “They have to see this process through and they will.”

Manchester United won the Europa League and the League Cup in their first season under the Portuguese head coach last term.

The Red Devils’ second-placed finish is a marked improvement under Mourinho after his appointment in May 2016.

Manchester United signed Chile international Alexis Sanchez in a swap deal from Arsenal in the January transfer window.
