Paul Pogba: This proves I’m back to my best for Man United
The Manchester United star believes he is back to his best in recent weeks ahead of the FA Cup final later this month
Paul Pogba has reassured Manchester United supporters that he is back to his best.
The France international has struggled with fitness and form in the 2017-18 Premier League campaign to prompt speculation surrounding his long-term future at Old Trafford.
Pogba scored two goals and made two assists in his opening four Premier League games this term before he suffered a hamstring problem in his first Champions League outing.
The 25-year-old returned to the Manchester United team in November but his performance prompted criticism from Jose Mourinho for his lack of defensive awareness.
However, Pogba proved inspirational in the Manchester derby as he scored twice to draw Manchester United level with Manchester City before Chris Smalling’s winner in the 3-2 victory over the champions.
The French star has scored three goals and has made two assists in his last six appearances in all competitions to find some form to see out the 2017-18 in style.
Speaking to the club’s website about his return to form, Pogba said:
“I had a big injury and missed a lot of games, but now I feel much better,” Pogba told club’s website.
“And I’ve been proving it with more assists. I’m not hitting the crossbar and the post like last season, so I’m happy. I’ve been involved in a few goals so I’m pretty happy.”
Manchester United re-signed Pogba in an £89m deal from Serie A giants Juventus in the 2016 summer transfer window after Sir Alex Ferguson sold the midfielder to the Italian club in an £800,000 deal in 2012.
