Ander Herrera has insisted that Manchester United are going in the right direction and that they can take plenty of positive from this season.

The Red Devils ended up being on the losing side on Saturday as they were beaten 1-0 by Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final as they missed their chance to win a trophy this season.

Manchester United have improved their form in the Premier League this season, with the Red Devils having been Manchester City’s closest challengers as they finished second in the table.

However, Jose Mourinho’s men still ended up 19 points behind Pep Guardiola’s champions after the Citizens’ incredible form this season.

Attentions will now inevitably turn towards the summer transfer window and the players Manchester United could look to sign as they look to bolster their squad.

And Herrera feels that the Red Devils are making significant progress under Jose Mourinho, despite ending the current campaign without a trophy.

Speaking to the Daily Express, Herrera said: “I think we have to keep going in this way. I think we are doing things right and try to be back playing finals.

“I think I’ve been here already four seasons and I have played a lot of finals here, which is very good.

“This club is about trophies but first of all to win trophies you have to play finals and I think we are doing that.”

Manchester United will be aiming to assemble a squad capable of winning the Premier League title next season as they look to lift the top flight trophy for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson’s final campaign back in 2013.
