The Red Devils are bound to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks and months as Jose Mourinho looks to assemble a squad capable of winning the Premier League title next season.
FC Barcelona defender Umtiti has been touted as a possible target for the Red Devils as Mourinho looks to bolster his defensive options ahead of his third season in charge at Old Trafford.
The 24-year-old defender’s future at FC Barcelona has been a subject of speculation, with the centre-half not yet having committed his long-term future to the Spanish side.
Now, Spanish football expert Balague has said that Manchester United are still keen on signing the France international, but he also revealed that talks between Umtiti and FC Barcelona are going better than they were earlier this year.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Balague said: “Contrary to reports, Manchester United are still willing to pay €60m for him.
“But Umtiti has since reduced his demands and the conversations with Barcelona are more fluid than they were a few months ago.”
Manchester United are aiming to finish as runners-up to Manchester City in the Premier League this season.
The Red Devils are also looking to beat Chelsea FC to win the FA Cup at the end of the campaign to end the season on a high.
