Gary Neville claims that Roberto Firmino is the kind of player that Man United and Real Madrid would love to sign
Gary Neville believes that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho would love to sign Roberto Firmino from Liverpool FC.
The Brazilian attacker has earned a reputation as one of the Premier League’s top forward players in recent seasons and he has been in fine form for Jurgen Klopp’s men this term.
Firmino has played an integral role in helping Liverpool FC up into third place in the Premier League table and into the semi-finals of the Champions League.
The 26-year-old has scored 27 goals and made 15 assists in all competitions for the Merseyside outfit this season – and his fine form was rewarded at the weekend when he signed a new long-term contract.
And former Manchester United defender Neville believes that Firmino has been in the type of form that Manchester United and the likes of Real Madrid and FC Barcelona would be interested in adding to their squad.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Neville said: “I think if you were Guardiola, you would want him as your striker.
“If you were Mourinho – you’d want him. If you were Real Madrid, Barcelona – you’d want him.”
Firmino will he expecting to feature for Liverpool FC when the Reds take on AS Roma in the return leg of their Champions League semi-final tie in Rome on Wednesday night.
The Brazilian scored twice as Liverpool FC claimed a 5-2 win in the first leg at Anfield last week.
