Romelu Lukaku tipped to start Man United v Chelsea FC in FA Cup final
Andy Cole is expecting to see Romelu Lukaku start the FA Cup final between Man United and Chelsea FC
Andy Cole is tipping Romelu Lukaku to do everything possible to start the FA Cup final clash between Manchester United and Chelsea FC even if he is not fully fit.
The Belgian striker has been missing in recent games due to an ankle injury suffered during the victory over Arsenal in the Premier League at Old Trafford last month.
Lukaku has been trying to win his battle to be fit for the game as Manchester United look to try and end the season on a positive note by beating the Blues at Wembley.
And former Manchester United star Cole feels that Lukaku is likely to make himself available for the game, even if he is not fully fit.
Speaking to Manchester United’s website, Cole said: “I’ve watched him all season, like everybody else.
“I think he looks fantastic. To get the goals he’s got this season, in a team that doesn’t create loads of chances for him, he’s done brilliantly and really well considering it’s his first season at Old Trafford.
“It’s not nice when you’ve got that little bit of rhythm and pick up an injury. You know you’ve got a massive game coming up and are a bit touch and go or whatever. So it may be difficult for him but, hopefully, he’ll be passed fit and do the best he can.
“It’s not every year you’re going to get to the FA Cup final. There are no doubts that, if he’s even 90, 80 or 70 per cent fit, he’ll give it a go.”
Manchester United finished in second place in the Premier League table this season in what was their highest finish since Sir Alex Ferguson retired back in 2013.
The Red Devils are now looking to end the campaign on a high and lift their third major trophy under Jose Mourinho.
Manchester United will then turn their attentions towards the summer transfer window and assembling a strong squad to challenge for the title next season.
