Michael Carrick responds to Paul Pogba Man United exit talk
Michael Carrick opens up about Paul Pogba's situation at Manchester United this summer
Michael Carrick has laughed off suggestions that Paul Pogba could be set to quit Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
The French midfielder’s situation at Old Trafford has been something of a source of speculation in recent weeks after his stuttering form for Manchester United at times this season.
Pogba started the season strongly but struggled with inconsistent form in the middle portion of the campaign as the Red Devils ended this term without a trophy.
There have been suggestions that Pogba has not been getting on very well with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United and that he could be set to seek a move away from Old Trafford.
However, Carrick has brushed off suggestions that Pogba may not have a long-term future at the club by talking up his importance to the Red Devils team.
Asked if Pogba has a future at Manchester United, Carrick told Sky Sports: “It’s a very silly question, really.
“Of course he’s got a future, he’s a big player for us, he’s at a great age, he’s got his peak years ahead of him, so it’s not something I’d give a second thought to, to be honest.”
Manchester United were beaten 1-0 by Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final on Saturday as they missed out on a trophy in Mourinho’s second campaign in charge.
The Red Devils will now turn their attentions back towards the summer transfer window and the players they will look to sign as they aim to build a team capable of winning the Premier League next season.
