Jose Mourinho plans to play Anthony Martial in a central striking role if the forward stays at Manchester United this summer, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Mail is reporting that the Red Devils boss is planning for a future with the 22-year-old striker in his squad, despite the forward having found his first team opportunities limited this season.

Martial has been pushed further down the pecking order at Old Trafford following Manchester United’s signing of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in the January transfer window.

The striker’s future has been a source of speculation due to his lack of playing time this term, but the report is now claiming that Mourinho is planning for a long-term future with Martial up front.

According to the same story, Mourinho feels that Martial and Marcus Rashford have not developed as he would have hoped in the wide roles for Manchester United this season.

The same story says that Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea FC, Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain are all keen on signing Martial should he look to leave Old Trafford this summer.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are aiming to finish second and win the FA Cup this season, with the Red Devils set to take on Chelsea FC in the final later this month.
