Gary Neville: There is no one else like this Man United star
Gary Neville singles out David De Gea for praise following his stunning form for Man United this season
Gary Neville believes that Manchester United star David De Gea is capable of making saves that no other goalkeeper is capable of.
The Spanish shot-stopper is widely regarded as one of the finest goalkeepers on the planet and his fine form this season has simply raised his profile.
De Gea has been one of Manchester United’s most consistent performers this term and has been a regular fixture in the starting line-up for Jose Mourinho’s men.
The Spain international has regularly been linked with a move to Real Madrid and came close to signing for the La Liga side back in the summer of 2015 before the switch fell through at the final hour.
Former Manchester United defender Neville singled out De Gea for special praise as he picked his save as the best of the season against Liverpool FC at Anfield this term.
Speaking on Monday Night Football on Sky Sports, Neville said: “When I watch De Gea for United he makes saves that I think nobody else would save.
“That’s where, for me, he becomes the very, very best. I was at Anfield and it was, for me, the stand-out save of the season from the stand-out goalkeeper.
“I remember being at the game and thinking it was a goal. It is unbelievable, both the reaction and the speed of the feet and then the speed to get up. Everything about it is absolutely brilliant.”
De Gea will be expecting to start for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Premier League action on Friday night with a trip to Brighton and Hove Albion.
The Red Devils are aiming to finish second and win the FA Cup in Mourinho’s second campaign in charge.
