Paul Scholes names the signings he wants Man United to make
Paul Scholes reckons that Man United need to sign some quality midfielders this summer
Paul Scholes believes that Manchester United need to sign two star-quality midfielders this summer.
The Red Devils enjoyed their best Premier League season since 2013 but they still ended up in second place in the table and 19 points behind runaway champions Manchester City.
Manchester United missed the chance to win a trophy this season when they were beaten by Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley earlier this month.
Jose Mourinho will now turn his attentions towards making sure Manchester United make the right signings to transform them into Premier League title challengers next season.
And speaking after the FA Cup final defeat by Chelsea FC, Scholes talked up the importance of the Red Devils bringing in some star quality this summer.
Scholes told BT Sport: “They need a big player. Paul Pogba does not win you games on his own, Eden Hazard does. They have to improve.
“They need two magical players to control the midfield. I think they’ve got really good players, but they haven’t got a Hazard, Ronaldo or Messi.”
The Red Devils brought Alexis Sanchez to Old Trafford from Arsenal in the January transfer window but the Chilean has struggled to make a positive impact.
Manchester United have not won the Premier League title since their final triumph under Sir Alex Ferguson back in 2013.
The Red Devils won both the Europa League and League Cup in Mourinho’s first season in charge of the club last term but ended this campaign without a trophy.
