Paul Scholes: What I truly think about Jesse Lingard at Man United
Paul Scholes explains why he has been so impressed by Jesse Lingard's displays for Man United this season
Paul Scholes has praised Jesse Lingard for the way in which he has added goals to his game at Manchester United this season.
The England international has been earning plenty of praise for his strong performances for Manchester United this season after seemingly winning the trust of Jose Mourinho.
The 25-year-old scored eight goals and made five assists in 33 Premier League games for Manchester United this season as the Red Devils finished in second place in the table.
Lingard netted at total of 13 goals in all competitions for the Red Devils in what was Mourinho’s second campaign in charge.
The England international will be hoping to hold down a regular spot in the first team at Old Trafford next season as he looks to build on his impressive campaign this term.
And Red Devils legend Scholes has been very impressed with how Lingard’s game has developed at Old Trafford this season.
Speaking in an interview with BT Sport, Scholes said: “He’s added goals to his game.
“He was always a late developer Jesse Lingard, it was always going to take him a little bit more time to develop physically.
“But now he’s a great athlete. He’s quick and he can finish.
“This year he also had to win the manager over because I don’t think he fancied him. He’s become a big player.”
Manchester United are bound to be linked with a host of players this summer as Mourinho looks to build a squad capable of winning the title next season.
The Red Devils have not won the Premier League since 2013.
