Man United leading the race to sign 27-year-old Arsenal star – report
Manchester United want to sign Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey this summer, according to a report
Manchester United are leading the race to sign Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey as the Gunners prepare to sell the Wales international, according to a report in England.
The Daily Express are reporting that the Gunners are ready to offload Ramsey to raise funds for summer transfers if the Welsh star won’t sign a new deal at the north London side.
The same article states that Ramsey’s sale could supplement Arsenal’s summer budget of £50m with Mikel Arteta widely tipped to take over the reins from outgoing Arsene Wenger.
The Daily Express goes on to quite BetStars trading director after the betting company made Manchester United favourites to sign the 27-year-old central midfielder.
Jose Mourinho is believed to be in the market to make a summer signing in the middle of the park given Michael Carrick’s retirement and ongoing uncertainty surrounding Marouane Fellaini.
Betstars director of trading Ian Marmion explained why Manchester United are the frontrunners to sign Ramsey in what would be a sensational transfer swoop for the Red Devils.
“Manchester United have been installed as the 2/1 favourites to be Aaron Ramsey’s next club, with the midfielder having not yet signed a new contract with Arsenal,” Marmion said.
“With the Gunners’ new manager still to be revealed, it hangs in the balance whether Ramsey will get a new contract and he could find his way to Manchester, should United come calling.
“Juventus are the second favourites to be the Welshman’s next club and are currently priced at 3/1 to lure the 27-year-old to Turin.
“Man City are in at 5/1 to be Ramsey’s next club and the midfielder could be tempted to join up with City’s superstars to give himself a better chance of lifting the Premier League trophy.
“Barcelona and Chelsea are also in the running and are priced at 8/1 and 12/1 respectively.”
Manchester United finished in second place in the Premier League table this season ahead of Liverpool FC and Tottenham Hotspur.
The Red Devils finished 19 points adrift of Premier League champions Manchester City.
