Anthony Martial has begun talks with Manchester United about signing a new deal with the Red Devils, according to reports in the British media.

The Sun is reporting that the 22-year-old striker has opened discussions with the Red Devils as he looks to secure his long-term future.

It has been something of a disappointing season for Martial, who struggled to hold down a regular spot in the first team at Old Trafford and was then left out of France’s World Cup squad.

The same report says that Manchester United are going to offer to extend his contract, despite his apparent failure to win over Jose Mourinho this season.

However, the same article says that the Red Devils are going to face a significant uphill battle in trying to convince Martial to sign a new deal this summer, following his lack of playing time this season.

The article also states that Manchester United are reluctant to sell Martial to a Premier League rival, with Tottenham Hotspur said to be interested in landing him this summer.

Martial’s current contract is set to expire next summer, although the Red Devils do have the option to extend by a further year.
