The Sun is reporting that the Manchester United boss wants to bring the Brazil international in the 2018 summer transfer window to improve his midfield options.
The same article states that Serie A champions Juventus remain interested in Costa after the South American spent the 2017-18 season on loan in Turin.
According to the same story, Manchester United would be willing to cough up £79m to sign the Bayern Munich attacker.
The Italian club have the option to cough up £33m to sign Costa after Juventus paid £7m for his services during the most recent campaign.
However. Juventus are thought to be interested in potential deals for Manchester United star Paul Pogba and Red Devils transfer target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
Manchester United remain second favourites to sign Costa in the 2018 summer transfer window.
The Red Devils lost 1-0 to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley last weekend following Eden Hazard’s winner.
