Brazil star opens up about Man United transfer links
Fred opens up about the speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United from Shakhtar Donetsk this summer
Fred has claimed that there is “strong interest” from Manchester United in signing him from Shakhtar Donetsk this summer.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a move to land the Brazilian attacker this summer as Jose Mourinho looks to beef up his midfield options ahead of next season.
Manchester United are likely to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks and months as the Red Devils look to transform themselves into genuine title contenders for next season.
Shakhtar Donetsk star Fred has been strongly touted as one of Manchester United’s top targets for the summer window.
Now, the player himself has confirmed that there has been interest in signing him from both the Red Devils and local rivals Manchester City this summer.
Fred is quoted as saying by Metro: “There have been some advanced talks since January, when I almost went to Man City.
“Soon after City, United talked to Shakhtar and my agents. And today, if I’m not mistaken, there is very strong interest from United.
“My head is in the World Cup. My agents are taking care of it. I try to do my work in the field and leave the extra field for Gilberto Silva.
“My staff are looking at what is best for me. Who knows after the World Cup I can make the best choice for me.”
Manchester United suffered a disappointing end to the season last weekend when they slumped to a 1-0 loss to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley.
The Red Devils ended the campaign without a trophy, although they did secure their highest finish in the Premier League since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement as they came as runners-up to Manchester City in the top flight table.
