Pat Nevin believes Manchester United need a striker in the same mould as Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Red Devils finished the 2017-18 season without silverware after Manchester United lost in the FA Cup final last weekend.

Manchester United lost 1-0 to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup showpiece at Wembley after Eden Hazard netted the winner from the penalty spot.

The 20-time English champions ended up in second place and 19 points behind their bitter rivals and title winners Manchester City.

Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku scored 16 times in 34 games in the Premier League following his £75m move to Manchester United from Everton last summer.

Ibrahimovic left Old Trafford during the 2017-18 season after the former Sweden international failed to recover from a knee injury to have an impact on their season.

The 35-year-old was the focal point of Mourinho’s team in the 2016-17 season as Manchester United ended the season with the League Cup and the Europa League.

Former Chelsea FC winger Nevin believes Manchester United need a striker in the same mould as Ibrahimovic to help out Lukaku next term.

“He needs another one as good as Ibrahimovic,” Nevin told BBC Radio 5 Live. “There aren’t many of them around.”

Manchester United lost 2-1 to Sevilla in the Champions League round of 16 after a surprise loss in the second leg at Old Trafford.
