Manchester United want to sign Ajax winger Justin Kluivert this summer, say reports
Manchester United are keen on a move to sign Ajax winger Justin Kluivert this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Red Devils want to bring the 18-year-old to Old Trafford this summer as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his squad ahead of his third campaign in charge.
According to the same story, the teenager, who is the son of Dutch legend Patrick Kluivert, is ready to turn down the offer of a new contract at Ajax after news of Manchester United’s interest.
However, former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar, who is the Ajax chief executive officer, is urging the teenager to stay at the Dutch club to continue his development.
Kluivert has been in fine form for Ajax this season, scoring nine goals and making five assists in 29 league games for the Dutch club.
Manchester United are bound to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as Mourinho looks to assemble a team capable of winning the title next season.
The Red Devils are currently on course to finish in second place in the table, their highest position since Sir Alex Ferguson led them to the title in his final campaign in charge in 2013.
