The Celtic star responds to transfer speculation linking Kieran Tierney with a move to Manchester United and Atletico Madrid
Kieran Tierney has admitted that he is flattered to be linked with a potential move to Atletico Madrid or Manchester United this summer.
The Scotland international has been attracting interest from a host of Europe’s top clubs following another impressive season under Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers.
Tierney has scored four goals and has made one assist in 47 appearances in all competitions in the 2017-18 season.
The 20-year-old has won three Scottish Premier League titles, the Scottish Cup and the Scottish League Cup since breaking into the Hoops first-team.
Manchester United have been linked with a potential swoop to sign Tierney in the summer transfer window as a replacement for Luke Shaw.
La Liga giants Atletico Madrid have emerged as surprised suitors for the Scottish defender after he won the PFA Scotland young player of the year for the third successive season.
However, Tierney has insisted that he is committed to Celtic despite transfer speculation linking him with a big-money move in the summer.
“I’ve never even been on trial with another team,” Tierney told Herald Scotland. “I was at my local boys’ club then moved to Celtic at seven.
“Can I see myself being here all my career? Yes, I can. But, you never know in football.
“I’ve never thought about being away from Celtic. Maybe one day it will happen.”
He added: “It’s a kind of confidence-booster in a way to know that you’ve put the hard work in and massive teams all over Europe are noticing it. It’s flattering for teams like that to be interested.”
Tierney has netted seven goals in 129 games in all competitions since breaking into the Celtic team back in April 2015.
The Celtic starlet has already amassed nine caps for the national team since making his debut in against Denmark in three years ago.
