Manchester United are the favourites to sign England youth left-back Matthew Bondswell from Nottingham Forest this summer, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Mail is reporting that the Red Devils are keen to make a move to land the 16-year-old after talks over a new deal with his club broke down.

The same story says that Southampton have also shown an interest in signing the teenager but it is now Manchester United who are leading the race for his signature.

Nottingham Forest are said to have so far failed to agree a new deal with Bondswell and Manchester United have swooped in with an offer.

According to the report, Nottingham Forest would command a compensation fee should the Red Devils agree a deal to sign Bondswell this summer.

The Red Devils are likely to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as Jose Mourinho looks to try and assemble a squad capable of winning the title next season.

Manchester United are still aiming to end the season on a high when they take on Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday afternoon.
