Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Manchester United will look to make a number of key signings this summer.

The Portuguese coach watched his side slip to a disappointing 1-0 loss to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final on Saturday afternoon as Eden Hazard’s first-half penalty wrapped up the victory for the Blues.

The defeat means that Manchester United have ended the season without a trophy after their second-placed finish in the Premier League.

Mourinho will now be looking to do whatever he can to transform Manchester United into title challengers for next season.

The Red Devils have not won the Premier League since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement back in 2013 but their finish this season was their best since that campaign.

Manchester United are likely to be linked with a number of players this summer as Mourinho looks to significantly bolster his squad ahead of next season.

And Mourinho delivered the latest update on his summer transfer plans when speaking in a post-match interview following Saturday’s defeat.

Mourinho told MUTV: “The market is very difficult – every player of medium quality is expensive.

“Obviously we are going to try and make some adjustments.”

Manchester United were Manchester City’s closest challengers in the Premier League this season, but they still ended up 19 points behind Pep Guardiola’s men, who ended the campaign with 100 points on the board.
