Manchester United are set to face competition from PSG for the signature of Fred this summer, say reports
Manchester United are set to face competition from Paris Saint-Germain for the signature of Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Manchester Evening News is reporting that Manchester United are not the only club keen on signing the 25-year-old Brazilian in the summer transfer window.
According to the same story, the Red Devils have “intensified” their interest in signing Fred over the last month as they look to bolster their squad this summer.
However, PSG are now said to also be firmly in the race to sign Fred as they look to strengthen their own midfield options this summer.
According to the same report, Fred’s release clause is set at €60m (£52.89m) and Shakhtar Donetsk are not planning to let the Brazilian midfielder leave for anything less than that price.
Fred has scored one goal in nine league games for Shakhtar Donetsk this season and also netted once in the Champions League for the Ukrainian side.
Manchester United are set to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks and months as Jose Mourinho looks to assemble a squad capable of winning the Premier League title next season.
