Man United suffer setback in pursuit of 27-year-old Brazilian – report
Manchester United have suffered a blow in their bid to sign Alex Sandro from Juventus, say reports
Manchester United have suffered a blow in their bid to sign Alex Sandro from Juventus this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mirror is claiming that the Red Devils had their sights set on trying to bring the 27-year-old Brazilian full-back to Old Trafford this summer.
However, the same story now claims that Manchester United could be forced to look elsewhere, because he is close to agreeing a new deal with Juventus.
The same article carries quotes from Juventus chief Giuseppe Marrotta, who has appeared to underline his confidence that Sandro will commit his future to the Italian club.
Sandro is no stranger to being linked with a move to the Premier League, with the full-back having been strongly touted as a target for Chelsea FC in the summer transfer window last year.
However, a move failed to materialise as he ended up staying at Juventus for the season.
Manchester United are thought to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as they look to build a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season.
The Red Devils finished in second place in the table and without a trophy this term.
