Man United’s secret weapon in bid to sign 23-year-old Serie A star revealed – report
Manchester United are hoping Nemanja Matic can help to convince Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to move to Old Trafford, according to a report
Manchester United are hoping Nemanja Matic can prove to be an influential figure in convincing Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to move to Old Trafford, according to a report in England.
Metro, as quoted by the Daily Star, is reporting that the Red Devils are keen to sign the Serbia international to bolster their midfield options ahead of the 2018-19 Premier League campaign.
Jose Mourinho is set to be lightweight on options in the middle of the park ahead of Michael Carrick’s retirement at the end of the campaign following a 12-year career at Old Trafford.
Belgium international Marouane Fellaini is set to become a free agent in the summer unless Manchester United can convince the former Everton star to commit to a new contract.
The same article states that Manchester United face competition for the 23-year-old midfielder but the Red Devils hope Matic can prove to be a decisive factor when Milinkovic-Savic makes his decision.
The Red Devils signed Matic in a £40m deal from bitter rivals Chelsea FC last summer and the 29-year-old has quickly established himself as a key member of the Manchester United team.
Milinkovic-Savic is thought to look up to his compatriot Matic and would relish the chance to share a midfield with the two-time Premier League winner.
