Man United warned 23-year-old Serie A star worth more than €110m
Lazio president Claudio Lotito speaks about Sergej Milinkovic-Savic's price tag amid interest from Manchester United
Lazio president Claudio Lotito has warned Manchester United that he has already turned down a €110m (£97m) offer for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a potential move to sign the Serbia international over the past 12 months or so.
Their Premier League rivals Liverpool FC have also been touted with an interest in the 23-year-old Serbian starlet.
Milinkovic-Savic scored 12 goals in 35 games in Serie A in the 2017-18 season to continue his progress in the Italian top flight.
The Lazio playmaker has also been linked with Serie A champions Juventus and French title holders Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window.
However, Lazio president Lotto has revealed that the Rome outfit have already turned down a €110m (£97m) offer for their talented midfielder.
“I turned down €110m for Milinkovic-Savic on August 29, so I don’t know how much he is worth now, but I can tell you €100m isn’t enough,” Lotito is quoted as saying by Football Italia.
“I get angry when I read people call Lazio a supermarket. I’ve never put anyone up for sale. In the past they wouldn’t even knock on the door, clubs would just come and take, but now they have to ask for permission.”
Manchester United are in the market to improve their midfield options following a disappointing end to the 2017-18 season.
The Red Devils lost 1-0 to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final after Eden Hazard’s winner from the penalty spot.
The 20-time English champions finished in second place in the Premier League table but ended up 19 points adrift of Manchester City.
Manchester United finished in the runners up spot ahead of their rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool FC.
