Insider claims Jose Mourinho wants these two Man United signings this summer

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho wants to sign a centre-half and a right-back this summer, according to reporter Duncan Castles

Jose Mourinho wants to sign a world-class centre-half and a back-up right-back this summer, according to Duncan Castles.

The Red Devils finished the 2017-18 season in second place in the Premier League table ahead of Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool FC.

However, Manchester United ended up 19 points behind Premier League champions Manchester City to highlight the gap between the rivals.

The 20-time English champions lost 1-0 to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley last weekend after Eden Hazard’s winner.

Phil Jones and Chris Smalling were both criticised for their poor performances in the Manchester United team in the FA Cup showpiece.

Manchester United are thought to be closing in on a deal to sign Brazil defender Alex Sandro to improve their left-back options.

Transfer Window reporter Castles revealed that Manchester United want to make two further defensive signings this summer.

“He wants to upgrade the full-backs to give them a better defence and more attack from wing positions,” Castles told the Transfer Window podcast.

“He wants a back up right back to put pressure on Antonio Valencia. He wants a top quality leader and experienced centre-half.”

Manchester United haven’t won the Premier League title since 2013 when the Red Devils won the top-flight crown under Sir Alex Ferguson.
