Manchester United are believed to be on the lookout for defensive reinforcements ahead of Jose Mourinho’s third campaign in charge at the club and Alderweireld has been strongly liked with a move to Old Trafford.
The Belgian defender’s future at White Hart Lane has been a source of speculation because of his failure to agree a new deal with the north London club.
The 29-year-old fell out of favour this season and was limited to just 13 Premier League starts for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
It remains to be seen whether Manchester United will indeed make an official bid to sign Alderweireld this summer or not, but reporter Terreur seems to think that Tottenham would be open to selling the defender.
Speaking on the Sky Sports Transfer Talk podcast, Terreur said: “I guess if a good offer comes in, Spurs might be tempted to sell him.
“Spurs will take the money. They have a history of doing that.”
Manchester United are bound to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks and months as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.
The Red Devils will be aiming to mount a serious title challenge under Mourinho next term.
