Mohamed Salah sends warning to Liverpool FC about Brighton clash
The Liverpool FC star isn't underestimating the challenge Brighton will provide this weekend
Mohamed Salah has warned his Liverpool FC team-mates that the Reds must take care of Brighton before allowing themselves to think about the Champions League final.
The Merseyside outfit still have work to do to secure a place in next season’s Champions League after losing 1-0 to Chelsea FC at Stamford Bridge last weekend.
Jurgen Klopp’s close friend David Wagner did the Reds a favour mid-week after his Huddersfield Town team managed to hold the Blues to a 1-1 draw in the English capital.
As a result, Liverpool FC will secure fourth spot in the table if the Reds manage to avoid a surprise loss to Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday.
The Merseyside outfit will take on La Liga giants Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev later this month.
However, Salah warned Liverpool FC to concentrate on their final Premier League game of the 2017-18 before turning their attention to the European Cup final.
“The target is to be in the Champions League next year and to win the Champions League in the last game,” Salah told Liverpool FC’s website.
“If you play a final, you can’t play to draw or lose – we’ll play to win the Champions League. But first we have Sunday; we have to think about that first to make sure we play in the Champions League next year. Then after we’ll play the final.”
Salah has scored 31 times in 35 games in the Premier League this season to scoop the PFA player of the year award.
The Reds forward netted 10 goals in their run to the Champions League final, including two goals and two assists against his former club AS Roma in the semi-finals.
