Paul Merson is tipping Chelsea FC to end their Premier League campaign with a defeat at Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.

The Blues are still in the hunt for a top-four spot but their fate is out of their hands after Chelsea FC failed to beat Huddersfield Town mid-week.

Antonio Conte’s side missed out the chance to move level on points with Liverpool FC in fourth spot following a 1-1 draw with the Terriers at Stamford Bridge.

The Reds will secure the final Champions League final spot as long as the Merseyside outfit manage to avoid suffering a loss to Brighton and Hove Albion at Anfield.

Chelsea FC will take on their former manager Rafael Benitez and his Magpies side who have already secured their Premier League status for another season.

The west London side will take on bitter rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley later this month.

Former Arsenal star Merson believes Chelsea FC will be looking to protect themselves for the FA Cup showpiece at Newcastle this weekend.

“It’s all about the FA Cup final now for Chelsea, isn’t it?” Merson told Sky Sports.

“They have to win, Liverpool have to lose but I don’t see it happening. Let’s be honest, they’ve messed it up. I just don’t think Chelsea will be at the races. I think they’ll be be more focused on the final.”

Chelsea FC won the Premier League title with two games to spare last season after finishing clear of Tottenham.

However, the Blues are a staggering 28 points behind Premier League champions Manchester City.
