Pep Guardiola tips Liverpool FC and Chelsea FC to challenge next season
Pep Guardiola is backing both Chelsea FC and Liverpool FC to be main contenders next season
Pep Guardiola is backing both Liverpool FC and Chelsea FC to be two of the main contenders to win the Premier League title next season.
Guardiola’s Manchester City side ran away with the title this term following their brilliant displays as they also won the League Cup in the Spaniard’s second season in charge at The Etihad.
The Citizens are naturally going to face increased competition next season as they battle to try and defend their Premier League title.
And Citizens boss Guardiola seems to think that both Liverpool FC and Chelsea FC are set to raise their games ahead of next season.
Speaking at a news conference on Friday, Guardiola said: “Jurgen [Klopp] is a top manager, creating not just an offensive style and not just thinking about the spectators. He’s always positive, going there and creating good environments in the clubs.
“OK, we are 25 points in front so it’s difficult to say he was difficult [to play against] in the end – but he was because they beat us. Next season will be the same, like [Manchester] United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham.”
Liverpool FC and Chelsea FC are both still hoping to end the season with a trophy despite having come up short in the Premier League.
Liverpool FC are set to travel to Kiev on 26 May to take on Real Madrid in the Champions League final.
And Chelsea FC will face Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley next Saturday evening as they look to end the campaign with their second trophy under Antonio Conte.
Both clubs are likely to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks and months as the summer transfer window approaches.
