Steven Gerrard has urged Liverpool FC’s players to “change their lives” by beating Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

The Reds secured their place in the showpiece event of Europe’s elite club competition on Wednesday night in dramatic circumstances as they sealed a 7-6 aggregate victory over AS Roma in the semi-finals, despite losing 4-2 to the Italian side in Rome.

Liverpool FC will now take on Real Madrid in the final in Kiev at the end of the month as they look to try and win the competition for a sixth time in their history.

Gerrard famously captained Liverpool FC to Champions League glory in 2005, with the Reds having beaten AC Milan in the showpiece in dramatic circumstances in Istanbul.

And Liverpool FC legend Gerrard is convinced that Jurgen Klopp’s men have what it takes to win the Champions League this season by beating Zinedine Zidane’s men in Kiev.

Speaking to BT Sport, Reds legend Gerrard said: “I remember that Istanbul changed my life.

“These players are on the brink of their lives changing. When you deliver the Champions League trophy for your club and your people, it’s a life-changing moment.

“They should believe they can do it, because they can.”

First though, Liverpool FC will focus on securing a top-four finish in the Premier League.

The Reds are currently in third place in the table as they prepare for their crunch trip to Chelsea FC in the top flight on Sunday afternoon.
